photography postcards
more about a recent project <3
back in 2022, i started designing postcard prints out of film photos i had taken. in all honestly, i felt that i had no other use for these photos because i was in photography school and focused mostly on digital images and professional photo editing at the time. after i dropped out of school, i decided to do something meaningful with these photos and started working on postcard designs. however, i quickly fell into a pretty bad episode of depression and burnout and never got around to bringing this project to life.
finally, this year, i ordered prints of my postcards and holding them feels so special. printing this project now helps me remember that ideas don’t have to expire just because i haven’t managed to produce them in a quick amount of time. it’s okay for ideas to go on hold for a bit.
i look back on these images as some of my favorite memories throughout 2021 and 2022. these are moments across bellingham, washington, vancouver, canada (where i took a day trip to visit a dear friend), and toronto, canada (where i lived and studied for a couple years).
the inspiration behind this project was wanting to combine two of my favorite analogue creative mediums: film photography and snail mail. i’ve been pen palling since i was 16 years-old, and mail holds a special place in my heart. i find it important to keep letter writing alive in the digital age we live in, and i love how creative a person can get with decorating envelopes and details of a letter.
i am selling these postcards for $3.00 each, you can message me here or on instagram to purchase. i would also be happy to do print/art trades with other artists (in person or via snail mail). they are also currently for sale locally at art and happiness in bellingham, washington and orca books co-op in olympia, washington. i am so grateful to have my art for sale at stores i adore!!
thank you for reading! below you can see a pdf of my postcard designs.
